Expand your roster of possible companies
If you love a good spreadsheet, you should consider accounting as a potential career path. It’s not for everyone, but there are major benefits for those who have a knack for numbers.
Why it’s not for everyone: Accounting can be…well, a little heady. But people who:
enjoy math and numbers,
are detail-oriented, and/or
like a good puzzle
Tend to find accounting work very rewarding.
Accounting is a great field to pursue if you’re one of those people: Not only does the job pay well, it’s needed pretty much everywhere. No company or organization doesn’t need people whose role is to ensure more money is coming in than flowing out.
Here’s what to do now:
Get on YouTube and look up a few basic accounting tutorials and see if you enjoy learning the fundamentals of Excel or QuickBooks. If you do, look around online for entry-level accounting positions and submit a few applications.

Monday Etiquette Tip: Party Time – But Make It Professional
We’re your workplace Emily Post
From time to time, your workplace will host celebratory events, from birthday parties to fundraisers to product launches. The vibes will be much more relaxed than the office, but that doesn’t mean you should treat it like a college bash.
Don’t forget that when you’re at an office party, you are at work. Don’t get too casual with your coworkers, and be very careful with alcohol, if you drink any at all.
Also, being at work means you’re helping work toward the purpose of the event. Make sure you pitch in anywhere if an extra pair of hands is needed – even if your department isn’t the one throwing the event.
Trivia Answer
The correct answer is B), Sheldon from “The Big Bang Theory,” is not an accountant, he’s a theoretical physicist.
