Research Your Way to the Right Job
Don’t Apply Blindly

Do you really want that job?

We get it. Hunting your first job can be pretty frustrating. Between the seemingly endless list of requirements, even (especially!!!) for junior positions, and the inevitable competition with other applicants… It's totally normal to find yourself in a position where you end up applying to every offer you see.

However, while trawling might seem like a good strategy, we don't really recommend it on its own.

If we focus on quantity, quality suffers. It's not worth getting a job that you won't keep. A 2018 survey found that 33% of people who leave their jobs do so within the first 90 days because their expectations aren't met. It doesn't seem like that percentage has improved in recent years.

The following are our honest suggestions, no affiliate links or kickbacks apply.

We all know how to google a company's name, but do you know where to find what you actually need?

🔍 Glassdoor

Glassdoor is a great place to find out what employees think of their workplaces. This platform gives you a quick overview of how a company is doing. You can see how its score has changed over time and whether it's getting better or worse.

🔍 Social Media Scrutiny

Head over to X and search for the company you're applying to, along with some keywords like the position you're applying for, "layoff," "salary" or "benefits." You'll get some interesting insights firsthand.

Applying for a job isn’t just about sending out résumés; it’s about making sure the company is the right fit for you. Do you want a job when you graduate? Join RoadMap. Work with our recruiters.

Hot Off the Press!

New Year, same inflation.

TL;DR…We’ve summed it up for you below! You’re welcome.

The U.S.'s strong growth and falling inflation isn't just down to Federal Reserve policies. There are other factors at play, like rising productivity and an expanding labor force. These forces have allowed the U.S. to steer clear of the economic slowdowns seen in other developed markets. However, risks such as trade tariffs and restrictive immigration policies could slow growth and keep inflation above target.

Globally, Europe is struggling to grow despite reducing prices, while China's recovery is facing structural and external challenges. Investment prospects favor bonds due to higher yields, while U.S. equities remain overvalued but are supported by strong fundamentals. Experts anticipate a long-term environment of "sound money," with higher rates shaping economic and market conditions for 2025.

App of Our Eye

Knowledge is money.

Keeping up with the job market is a full-time job in itself, which is why some people get paid to do it. But most of us have to do it as a way to invest in our careers. This is where Crunchbase comes in.

Whether you’re scoping out a potential employer, dreaming of launching your own venture or just trying to stay ahead of the trends, Crunchbase has all the juicy details ☕. Who’s raising funds? What industries are popping off? Who’s behind your favorite brands? Crunchbase knows it all.

Even better, it’s not just for stalking companies (though, no shame in that!). Crunchbase is your secret weapon for impressing during interviews or networking. Imagine dropping knowledge about a company’s latest funding round or their competitors, it’s giving prepared AND plugged in. Plus, with its easy-to-use interface, you can casually scroll through profiles like TikTok's “for you” page.
