A New Job as a New Year's Resolution?
Here's What to Expect.

First on this list is… a new job?
You want to work from home, but... Do companies still hire remote workers? What about the tools you use? Is there some shiny new thing you NEED to learn? At the very least, you can't go wrong with Google Sheets. Let's face it, there's nothing more ever-changing than fast fashion and the job market.
The following are our honest suggestions, no affiliate links or kickbacks apply.
Job Trends to Keep an Eye On:
1️⃣ Hybrid work is the new norm…with a caveat.
Efficiency is king, and the stats show that remote jobs are here to stay. A survey by Owl Labs found that an overwhelming 73% of employees report “increased productivity in a flexible work setting.”
However, even though this aligns with the many employees who want flex time, hiring managers of recent grads want them in the office. If you want to nail the job, show your flexibility by stating you are comfortable working in-office full-time or hybrid.
TRUTH: Recent grads should have one goal: GET THE OFFER and start working. Save the ask for hybrid or flex time for when you have more experience.
2️⃣ Demand for Digital Skills
Since the start of the new technology revolution, tech jobs have been in ever-increasing demand, and 2025 looks set to be no exception, with a projected increase of 25% per year. Key words? Cybersecurity and AI.
The fact of the matter is, AI is everything, in every role. So, get super familiar with all AI platforms related to the industry you want to go in. ChatGPT may be leading the royal court, but there are many other great AI platforms to use for information and design, like Perplexity.ai, Gemini, and even fan-favorite tools like Canva with their Magic tools rollouts.
3️⃣ Demand for Soft Skills
Now is the perfect time to take some leadership coaching sessions. After all, 78% of recruiters take soft skills such as leadership and communication into consideration when hiring. Psst. 4️⃣ Automation in AI
AI is not just digitally generated words and pictures. It’s actually quite a phenomenon when it comes to productivity and project management – something we all do inevitably in any job we hold. The World Economic Forum reports that 85 million jobs may be displaced by 2025. But don't despair! As companies balance automation, a whopping 97 million new roles will emerge.
2025 will be a year of striking a balance between automation and human oversight. Companies will prioritize integrating new technologies with human support.
It is advisable to familiarize yourself with the most used AI tools in your area and work on your soft skills.
