Expand your roster of possible companies
If you’re reading this, you’re probably not completely certain about the career you want to pursue. How could you? You haven’t gotten your first job yet!
But getting to know your future industry – beyond the biggest names – is key to finding a path that works for you.
For example, if you’re interested in working in sports, you shouldn’t be looking at just Nike and Adidas. You should also explore working for a professional team, a small activewear startup, a marketing firm, a wellness retailer, and many other sports-related opportunities.
Applying your passions is important when you’re at the beginning of your career and you should gather as much intel as possible so you can make the right decisions.
What to do right now:
Go to LinkedIn or Indeed’s job search sections and enter a few terms related to your interests. Look out for any that seem surprising or interesting, and read through the job descriptions. If there’s anything you can see yourself enjoying, add jobs in that domain to your application list.

Notes on Thank Yous
In this section, we’ll provide some tips on how to show appreciation for those who help you out professionally
We’ll start off with the basics here – every time someone does you a professional favor, you should thank them. Send an email at the very least.
Even better, go beyond the very least. A couple ways you could do so:
Send a $5 Starbucks gift card. It’s a small gesture, but everyone appreciates a free coffee.
Send a handwritten thank you note, especially if the person did something like writing a reference letter.
Who should these thank yous go to? Anyone who’s taken time out of their day to support you. That could mean being a reference, but it could also mean chatting for 15 minutes. That’s 15 minutes they could have spent on something else.
Just so ya know, you can win some serious goodies when you refer.
For 25 referrals, you get a $25 Starbucks gift card
For 50, you get a 35oz Stanley cup
For 100, you get a ClutchMax portable phone charger
For 150, you get a $150 Amazon gift card
For 500, you get a pair of Apple Airpods Max
For 1000, you get a 14-inch Apple MacBook Pro
